We are delighted that Dame Prue Leith, renowned South African-British chef, restaurateur, author and television personality, will be joining us for Well Read Literary Festival this summer.
Journalist Eleanor Mills will interview Prue on her latest book Being Old and Learning to Love It, discussing the trials and taboos of growing older, along with its unexpected joys. Prue speaks with refreshing honesty about life as a modern woman in her eighties. Nothing is off limits: from beauty, staying active and finding fame on The Great British Bake Off, to friendship, family, and the occasional regret. She will address the big questions about time running out, grief and her belief in assisted dying, alongside finding love, retirement, fashion, travel and gardening.
A Life of Excellence
Prue’s career has included running her own restaurants and cookery schools, as well as being a board director of many companies. She has published eight novels, a memoir, and 14 cookbooks, and her latest book Being Old and Learning to Love It.
Prue has had a long involvement with education and has been active in many charities. She has a DBE, 12 honorary degrees or fellowships, the Veuve Clicquot Businesswoman of the year, and her restaurant, Leith’s, won a Michelin star.
