This evening, a rare partial solar eclipse passed over the UK, said to be the UK’s biggest solar eclipse until 2081.
To celebrate this incredible celestial event, we’re taking a look at how the eclipse unfolded across the Estate, from the stillness of our Wild Swim Lake and the changing light across Wasing Park, to the opening ceremony of Medicine Festival.
Wild Swim Lake
Our secluded Wild Swim Lake offered one of the Estate’s most unique vantage points. Surrounded by ancient woodland, the changing light filtered through the canopies and across the water, creating a truly magnificent setting for our visitors’ evening dip.
For us, the lake has always been a place to slow down, reconnect with nature and take in the world around us. An event like this gave us a unique reason to do just that – to step away from the everyday and experience this extraordinary celestial event immersed in nature.
Wasing Park Wedding Venue
Across Wasing Park, the eclipse brought incredible vistas, with changing light cast across the Castle Barn, the Parish Church and surrounding landscape. It was a beautiful reminder of the changing seasons and the ever-changing beauty of the natural world around us.
At Wasing, nature lies at the heart of the Estate, and we’re fortunate to see its beauty shape the setting for our couples throughout the year.
Medicine Festival Opening Ceremony
The eclipse also marked the opening of Medicine Festival here at Wasing, where guests came together for a special Brythonic Eclipse Ceremony.
Drawing on ancient traditions of the Brythonic Isles, where eclipses were understood as profound moments of stillness, transformation and connection, the ceremony offered an invitation to gather, honour the land and reconnect with nature.
Taking place across the Estate as the festival opened its 2026 programme, it was a wonderful way to mark such a significant celestial event and bring the Medicine community together.
One Eclipse, Many Experiences
From the still waters of our Wild Swim Lake, to the changing light across Wasing Park and the opening of Medicine Festival, the eclipse created a rare shared moment across the Estate.
It was a reminder of just how many different ways there are to experience Wasing, and how, at the heart of them all, is our connection to nature.
